Tutor and Forest School sessions
Join us as we embark on a journey to foster a love for learning and exploration inside and outside the classroom.

Our Story
Your primary tutors are Sarah Warner and Julie Miles-Greenaway.
In 2023, Sarah opened Phoenix Montessori Tutor and Forest School Group and began working with Anne at Blacknest Forest. Anne Martin provides the amazing space for us to work and learn in as this site has been in her family for over 60 years. She is our Landlord and lives on site with her husband, Tom.

Anne Martin
Landowner of Blacknest Forest School
You will no doubt see Anne most days, as she loves to greet us all in the morning, share daily tasks we can undertake and say goodbye at the end of each session.
As part of our commitment to the site, we help Anne with the conservation and maintenance of the Cabin and grounds. Our tasks may include, pond-clearing, gardening, lopping and sawing branches, boughs and plants, raking and sweeping, constructing and tending to fires, and building habitats to encourage diverse populations.
She shares with us ideas for forest skills and tasks build up over years from her own experience in running a holiday Forest School at Blacknest and from her work with A Rocha UK, ‘A Christian charity working to protect and restore the natural world.'

Others
As well as Anne, there may be other members of the ‘Team’ working on projects onsite while the sessions are being held. These include, but are not limited to: gardeners, conservationists, arborists and members of A Rocha. Anne personally knows all members of the Team and has been working with them all for many years. Phoenix tutors and children may engage in projects alongside other members of the Team, always with a tutor present.
Phoenix pupils are very welcome to join Anne for her holiday sessions if they wish. Just ask one of us for more details.

Our Hope
We wish for Phoenix Montessori pupils to show a great awareness of and care for their self, their community and their environment. We want each child to recognise their strengths, qualities, passions, dreams and ambitions, as well as the challenges they might face so they may work towards living their very best life. We hope they become bold, brave doers and dreamers in a manner that suits their personality and learning style and strive to fulfil this ambition by removing barriers in their learning environment and celebrating their uniqueness. We hope we can work together to help your child on their journey!
